What is São Tomé citizenship by investment?
São Tomé and Príncipe offers a route to citizenship through a non-refundable contribution. Applications require eligibility review, source-of-funds checks and due diligence; programme authorities make the decision.
How much should my family budget?
Our planning estimate is US$115,000 for one applicant or US$120,000 for an eligible family of two to four. This comprises a US$90,000 or US$95,000 contribution, a US$20,000 process package and a US$5,000 MFG Consultants advisory and coordination fee.
What is included in that estimate?
The process package covers due diligence, legal processing and passport delivery. The estimate assumes official submission and document-issuance fees are included in that package. Your written proposal must confirm this, taxes, sponsor costs and exceptional expenses. Larger families require an individual quotation.
What could this change for my family?
An additional nationality can form part of your long-term family plan alongside your current home, career and residence arrangements. Start by identifying who would apply, which destinations matter and what practical options you need. Citizenship does not guarantee banking access, tax residence or entry to another country.
Do we need to move, and how long does it take?
There is no minimum physical residence requirement. The published overall timeframe is approximately five to six months. Approval, citizenship registration and passport issuance are separate stages; individual timing can vary.
Can Russian nationals and adult relatives apply?
Russian nationals may be eligible, subject to current rules and individual review. Adult dependants require particular attention: a September 2026 consular notice identifies a pause affecting naturalisation and passports for specified adult children, parents and grandparents. Confirm current treatment before relying on a family completion date.
Does this give us Portuguese residence or EU rights?
São Toméan citizenship does not automatically grant Portuguese residence or EU rights. Any Portuguese residence application is a separate assessment under the rules applicable to your circumstances.

The Portuguese team at MFG Consultants clarifies family goals, prepares the written planning brief and coordinates agreed next steps. Authorised programme professionals handle formal application work; the programme authorities decide the application.
